Ingredients
Scale
Dough
- 140 g self-raising flour
- 140 g sweetened Greek yogurt
Toppings
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Melted butter, for brushing and coating
- Melted chocolate, for drizzling (optional)
Instructions
- Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the self-raising flour and sweetened Greek yogurt. Stir together until a soft dough forms. Transfer it to a lightly floured surface and knead gently with your hands until smooth and free of dry flour patches. If dough feels sticky, rub a little oil on your hands to prevent sticking.
- Shape the Doughnuts: Divide the dough into two equal portions. Roll each portion into a long log about 1 inch thick. Cut the logs into small pieces roughly 8-12 grams each. Roll each piece between your palms to form smooth doughnut balls.
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 180°C (350°F) and preheat for about 5 minutes. Lightly brush the air fryer basket with oil to prevent sticking.
- Air Fry the Doughnuts: Toss the doughnut balls lightly in melted butter. Place them spaced apart in the air fryer basket to allow for expansion. Air fry for 5 minutes until they puff up and turn golden. Note that they may not brown evenly, which is normal.
- Finish with Cinnamon Sugar: While still warm, brush the doughnuts with more melted butter. Immediately roll them in the cinnamon and sugar mixture so the coating sticks well.
- Serve: Enjoy the light and fluffy donuts as they are, or add a drizzle of melted chocolate for a deliciously indulgent finish.
Notes
- Use sweetened Greek yogurt to avoid adding extra sugar to the dough.
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking and puffiness.
- For best texture, serve donuts warm immediately after preparing.
- These donuts do not have holes; they are small ball-shaped bites.
- You can store leftover donuts in an airtight container for up to 2 days but are best fresh.
