Description

Indulge in a luscious and creamy Bailey’s Chocolate Mousse that’s perfectly airy and rich with a delightful hint of Irish cream. This no-bake dessert combines smooth chocolate, whipped heavy cream, and the unmistakable flavor of Baileys Irish Cream, making it an elegant treat that’s easy to prepare and perfect for any special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Gelatin Mixture

  • 2 teaspoons unflavored gelatin
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 1/4 cup boiling water

Main Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder (add 1 additional tablespoon for more intense chocolate flavor)
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream (very cold)
  • 1/2 cup Baileys Irish Cream (very cold)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Chill Equipment: Place a mixing bowl and beaters in the freezer for 15-20 minutes to chill them. This helps in achieving stiffer peaks when whipping the cream.
  2. Soften Gelatin: Sprinkle the gelatin over 2 tablespoons of cold water in a small bowl. Stir gently and let it stand for 1 minute to allow the gelatin to soften properly.
  3. Dissolve Gelatin: Add 1/4 cup boiling water to the softened gelatin. Stir continuously until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Set aside and allow it to cool.
  4. Mix Sugar and Cocoa: In a large mixing bowl, combine granulated sugar and cocoa powder thoroughly.
  5. Whip Cream and Add Flavors: Add the very cold heavy cream to the sugar and cocoa mixture. Beat on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form. Gradually pour in Baileys Irish Cream, vanilla extract, and the cooled gelatin mixture while continuing to beat at high speed until the mixture is well blended and soft peaks form.
  6. Thicken the Mousse: Let the mousse mixture stand for 5 minutes to thicken slightly before serving.
  7. Serve or Chill: Spoon the mousse into serving dishes. For quicker setting, chill the serving bowls beforehand. Place the filled dishes in the refrigerator.
  8. Refrigerate: Chill the mousse for at least 1 hour or until ready to serve, allowing the flavors to meld and the texture to set perfectly.

Notes

  • For a stronger chocolate taste, add an extra tablespoon of cocoa powder.
  • Chilling the bowl and beaters beforehand helps in achieving a better whipped cream texture.
  • Use very cold heavy cream and Baileys to ensure proper whipping and consistency.
  • Serve chilled for best flavor and texture.
  • Can be garnished with chocolate shavings or whipped cream if desired.
