  • 2 slices of bread (sides removed)
  • 3 tsp onion paste
  • 2 tsp garlic paste
  • ½ tsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 2-3 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  6. Step 6: Repeat the process with the remaining egg mixture and bread slice.
  7. Step 7: Serve warm with tomato ketchup and a hot beverage like coffee, tea, or warm milk.

Tips & Variations

  • You can add chopped green chilies or herbs like coriander for extra flavor and freshness.
  • Use whole wheat or multigrain bread for a healthier twist.
  • Try spreading a thin layer of butter on the bread before dipping for a richer taste.
  • Add cheese on top before folding the omelette for a creamy texture.

Storage

Bread omelettes are best enjoyed fresh. If you need to store leftovers, wrap them tightly in foil or plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 1 day. Reheat gently in a pan or microwave to maintain softness without drying out.

It’s cooked on a stovetop in a non-stick pan, resulting in a golden, fluffy omelette that pairs perfectly with tomato ketchup and coffee or tea.

Ingredients

Scale

Egg Mixture

  • 4 large-sized eggs
  • 3 tsp onion paste
  • 2 tsp garlic paste
  • 1½ tsp red chilli powder (divided)
  • ¾ tsp all-purpose flour (½ tsp + ¼ tsp)
  • Salt to taste

Others

  • 2 slices of bread (sides of the bread removed)
  • 23 tbsp oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the egg mixture: In a bowl, add ¼ tsp all-purpose flour, ½ tsp red chilli powder, salt, 1.5 tsp onion paste, 1 tsp garlic paste and 2 eggs. Whisk vigorously for 2-3 minutes until well combined and slightly frothy.
  2. Heat the pan and cook the egg: Place a non-stick pan over medium heat. Add 2-3 tablespoons of oil, letting it heat up. Then reduce the flame to low and pour the prepared egg mixture evenly across the pan.
  3. Place the bread on the egg: Place one slice of bread in the center of the pan on top of the egg mixture. Immediately dip the bread into the egg and flip it so the egg-coated side is down on the pan, then reposition it in the center of the pan to cook.
  4. Cook and fold the omelette: As the omelette starts to firm up, gently fold the sides of the omelette towards the center over the bread. Continue cooking on low heat until the omelette turns golden brown and fully sets.
  5. Flip and finish cooking: Carefully flip the whole bread omelette and cook the other side for 3-4 minutes or until it’s cooked through and golden brown on both sides.
  6. Repeat and serve: Remove the cooked bread omelette to a plate and repeat the process for the second bread slice and remaining egg mixture. Serve the bread omelette hot with tomato ketchup and a cup of black coffee, milk coffee, tea, or warm milk.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of red chilli powder to your desired spice level.
  • Removing the sides of the bread helps it soak less oil and cook uniformly.
  • Whisking the eggs thoroughly gives a fluffier texture to the omelette.
  • Use a non-stick pan to prevent sticking and for easier flipping.
  • The bread omelette pairs well with a variety of hot beverages like coffee or tea.
