Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 150 g all-purpose flour
  • 50 g natural cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 115 g unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 100 g brown sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Coating & Topping

  • 30 g granulated sugar
  • 30 g sprinkles
  • 30 g powdered sugar
  • 24 Hershey’s kisses, unwrapped

Instructions

  1. Prep: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside to prepare for baking.
  2. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, natural cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until evenly mixed.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, use an electric hand mixer to beat the softened unsalted butter until very creamy and pale in color, about 3 minutes. Add the brown sugar and continue to beat until the mixture is fluffy and well combined.
  4. Add Wet Ingredients: Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated, creating a smooth batter.
  5. Mix Dry into Wet: Gradually add the dry flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed just until the dough is combined and no flour pockets remain. Do not overmix.
  6. Scoop the Dough: Using a 1 to 1.5 tablespoon cookie scooper, portion out the dough and roll each into a ball with your hands.
  7. Coat the Dough Balls: Roll each dough ball in your choice of granulated sugar, sprinkles, or powdered sugar. Place the coated dough balls evenly spaced about 1 inch apart on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake Cookies: Bake in the preheated oven for 7-8 minutes, or until the cookies become puffy and set but are not fully firm. While the cookies bake, unwrap all the Hershey’s kisses.
  9. Add Hershey’s Kisses: Immediately after removing the cookies from the oven, press one Hershey’s kiss into the center of each cookie to create a signature blossom shape.
  10. Cool: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5-10 minutes to set before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely or serve them warm for a gooey treat.

Notes

  • For best texture, avoid overmixing the dough once you add the dry ingredients.
  • You can customize the coating by mixing sugar and sprinkles to add a colorful touch.
  • Ensure the butter and egg are at room temperature for smoother mixing and better dough consistency.
  • Press the Hershey’s kiss into the cookie while still warm to prevent cracking.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
