Ingredients
Scale
Oatmeal Base
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
Cinnamon Swirl
- 2 tbsp butter (or plant-based alternative)
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
Glaze
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tsp milk (dairy or plant-based)
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 inch baking dish to prevent sticking and ensure easy removal of the oatmeal bakes.
- Mix Oatmeal Base: In a large bowl, whisk together the rolled oats, milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until fully combined and smooth. Pour this mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- Prepare Cinnamon Swirl: Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Once melted, stir in the brown sugar and cinnamon until the mixture is smooth and combined.
- Create the Cinnamon Swirl Pattern: Drizzle the cinnamon swirl mixture over the oatmeal base in the baking dish, using a spoon or spatula to create a swirl pattern for an even distribution of flavor.
- Bake the Oatmeal: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the oatmeal is set and the top turns golden brown, indicating it is cooked through.
- Make the Glaze: While the oatmeal is baking, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth and slightly runny.
- Cool and Glaze: After removing the oatmeal bake from the oven, let it cool for about 5 minutes. Then, drizzle the prepared glaze over the top. Serve warm to enjoy the full flavors and comforting texture.
