Description
Dr Oz Pink Gelatin is a simple, low-calorie weight loss recipe designed to boost metabolism and support appetite control using unflavored gelatin combined with antioxidant-rich cranberry or pomegranate juice. This versatile recipe can be enjoyed warm as a drink or chilled as gelatin cubes, making it an easy and effective addition to your daily diet.
Ingredients
Scale
Gelatin Base
- 1 tablespoon unflavored gelatin powder (Knox or Great Lakes brand)
Liquid Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cranberry juice or pomegranate juice (cold)
- 1/2 cup hot water or hot herbal tea
Optional Additions
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice (optional)
- 1 pinch pink Himalayan salt (optional)
Instructions
- Bloom the Gelatin: Pour the cold cranberry or pomegranate juice into a small bowl or mug. Evenly sprinkle the gelatin powder over the surface of the juice and let it sit undisturbed for 5 minutes. This allows the gelatin to absorb the liquid and thicken into a spongy texture.
- Heat the Liquid: Heat the water or herbal tea until just below boiling, about 190°F. Pour this hot liquid over the bloomed gelatin.
- Dissolve Gelatin: Whisk vigorously for 30 to 60 seconds until the gelatin is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth and free of clumps.
- Prepare Warm Drink: If making a warm drink, add the optional lemon juice, stir, and consume the mixture immediately while warm, ideally 15-30 minutes before meals to support appetite control.
- Set the Gelatin: For chilled gelatin, pour the mixture into a small container, cover it, and refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours until fully set and firm.
- Create Gelatin Cubes: To make gelatin cubes, pour the mixture into an 8×8-inch pan, chill until set, then cut into 1-inch cubes. Store the cubes in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
- Consume: Eat 3 to 5 gelatin cubes or one serving of the prepared gelatin drink 15-30 minutes before lunch or dinner to help support appetite suppression during weight loss efforts.
Notes
- Use unsweetened juice to keep the recipe low in added sugars and calories.
- Optional lemon juice adds a fresh flavor and slightly boosts vitamin C content but can be omitted if preferred.
- Pink Himalayan salt is optional and can add trace minerals, but is not necessary for the gelatin to set.
- This recipe is single-serving but can be scaled up as needed.
- Consume gelatin cubes within 5 days for best freshness and texture.
- This recipe is a supportive addition to a balanced diet and should not replace whole meals.
