For the Chicken:

  • 4 chicken breasts (cubed)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or cornstarch)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp garlic salt

For the Sauce:

  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup white distilled vinegar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 6 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp red chili pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Coat the chicken: In a bowl, mix the cubed chicken with flour, paprika, and garlic salt until coated.
  2. Fry the chicken: Heat oil in a pan and fry the coated chicken pieces in batches until crispy and cooked through. Set aside.
  3. Make the sauce: In a separate saucepan, combine sugar, water, vinegar, salt, soy sauce, and chili flakes. Bring to a boil.
  4. Cook the chicken in sauce: Add the fried chicken to the sauce, simmer uncovered for about 12 minutes or until the sauce thickens.
