Description

Decadent Guinness Chocolate Brownies featuring a rich blend of stout beer and semi-sweet chocolate, topped with a silky chocolate ganache infused with beer for an indulgent treat perfect for any chocolate lover.

Ingredients

Scale

Brownie Batter

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 1/3 cups Guinness Stout beer
  • 2 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup salted butter, melted and cooled
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Ganache

  • 10 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter
  • 4 tablespoons Guinness Stout beer
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius) to ensure it’s properly heated by the time your batter is ready.
  2. Prepare the pan: Grease a 9×9 inch square baking pan thoroughly, then line it with parchment paper leaving handles on two opposite sides to make removal easier later.
  3. Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the vegetable oil, Guinness Stout beer, white sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir well to blend all the liquids and sugar.
  4. Add butter: Pour in the melted and cooled salted butter and mix until fully incorporated into the wet mixture.
  5. Incorporate eggs: Crack in the eggs and stir the mixture until it’s smooth and uniform in texture.
  6. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and unsweetened cocoa powder to evenly distribute the cocoa throughout the flour.
  7. Mix dry into wet: Gradually add the flour and cocoa mixture into the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the brownies tender.
  8. Pour batter into pan: Transfer the batter to your prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula for uniform baking.
  9. Bake the brownies: Place the pan in the oven and bake for approximately 35 minutes. Test doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out with a few moist crumbs but not wet batter.
  10. Cool the brownies: Remove the pan from the oven and allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before adding ganache to prevent melting.
  11. Prepare ganache: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips, salted butter, and Guinness Stout beer. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until the mixture is smooth and fully melted.
  12. Add powdered sugar: Sift in the powdered sugar and whisk the ganache until smooth and completely combined for a glossy finish.
  13. Apply ganache: Pour the ganache evenly over the cooled brownies and spread gently with a spatula.
  14. Chill to set: Place the brownies in the refrigerator to chill until the ganache is firm and set.
  15. Serve: Once set, cut the brownies into 12 bars and serve for a rich, chocolatey treat with a hint of stout flavor.

Notes

  • Ensure the butter is cooled before adding to avoid cooking the eggs prematurely.
  • Using Guinness Stout beer adds a unique depth of flavor that complements the chocolate.
  • Do not overbake the brownies to maintain their fudgy texture.
  • The ganache must fully set before slicing to ensure clean cuts.
  • You can substitute semi-sweet chocolate chips with dark chocolate chips for a richer taste.
