  • Yield: Approximately 500 ml of juice, about 8 shots 1x
  • Diet: Vegan

Description

This invigorating Lemon Ginger Turmeric Shot is a powerful blend of fresh lemons, ginger, and turmeric, enhanced with a pinch of black pepper to boost bioavailability. This healthy and refreshing shot packs a potent dose of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds, perfect for kickstarting your day or boosting your immunity naturally.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 4 Lemons, peeled
  • 200 g Ginger, cut into ½ inch chunks (peeling optional)
  • 200 g Turmeric, cut into ½ inch chunks (peeling optional)
  • ¼ tsp Black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Wash and rinse the ginger, turmeric, and lemons thoroughly using a vegetable brush to remove any dirt or impurities.
  2. Cut Ingredients: Cut the ginger and turmeric into ½ inch chunks without necessarily peeling them. Peel the lemons completely and cut them into halves.
  3. Juicing Method: Transfer the lemon halves, ginger, and turmeric chunks to a juicer (such as the Nama Juicer). Juice all the ingredients until smooth and combined.
  4. Add Black Pepper: Pour the freshly extracted juice into a container and add ¼ teaspoon of black pepper. Stir gently to combine, as the black pepper enhances the absorption of turmeric’s beneficial compounds.
  5. Alternative Blending Method: If you do not have a juicer, place the lemons, ginger, and turmeric into a blender. Add about 2 cups of water and blend until smooth to create a thick mixture.
  6. Strain the Juice: Pour the blended mixture through a cheesecloth or a fine mesh cloth and squeeze thoroughly to extract the juice from the pulp. Note that turmeric may stain the cloth yellow even after washing.
  7. Add Black Pepper to Blended Juice: After straining, add ¼ teaspoon of black pepper to the juice and stir well.
  8. Serving: Serve the lemon ginger turmeric shot as is or pour a shot-sized amount into a glass and dilute with warm water and honey to taste for a soothing morning beverage.
  9. Storage: Store any leftover juice in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.

Notes

  • Peeling ginger and turmeric is optional; however, make sure to wash them well if you decide to keep the peel.
  • Turmeric can stain surfaces and cloths yellow, so handle with care during preparation.
  • Adding black pepper increases the absorption of curcumin, the active compound in turmeric.
  • The juice can be consumed plain or diluted with warm water and honey for added sweetness and comfort.
  • Store juice in airtight containers and consume within 3 days for best flavor and potency.
