  • 3 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 3 cups Lucky Charms cereal
  • 1 10 oz. bag marshmallows

Optional Ingredients

  • 3 cups mini or regular size marshmallows (optional, for extra marshmallow topping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Line a 13 x 9 inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly coat it with nonstick cooking spray. This ensures that the treats don’t stick and are easy to remove once set.
  2. Melt the Butter: Place a large pot over low heat and melt the 6 tablespoons of unsalted butter slowly to prevent burning. Stir occasionally.
  3. Add Marshmallows: When the butter has melted completely, add the marshmallows to the pot. Stir constantly to melt the marshmallows evenly, being careful not to let them brown or burn, which can affect the flavor.
  4. Mix in Cereals: Once all the marshmallows have melted smoothly, remove the pot from the heat. Immediately stir in the Rice Krispies cereal and the Lucky Charms cereal until all the cereals are evenly coated with the melted marshmallow mixture.
  5. Transfer to Pan: Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan. Use a spatula coated with nonstick spray or your hands (also lightly sprayed) to press the cereal mixture evenly and firmly into the pan.
  6. Add Extra Marshmallows (Optional): If desired, sprinkle the Lucky Charms marshmallows or the optional additional mini marshmallows over the top of the treats and gently press them into the surface for decoration and extra sweetness.
  7. Cool and Slice: Allow the treats to cool for a few minutes at room temperature so they can set properly. Once firm, slice into bars and serve.

Notes

  • For easier cutting and handling, coat your spatula or hands with nonstick spray before pressing the mixture into the pan.
  • Do not let the marshmallows brown while melting, as this can cause a toasted flavor and tougher texture.
