Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 3/4 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1/8 teaspoon of salt
- 2/3 cup of milk chocolate chips
- Additional granulated sugar for sprinkling
Wet Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup of creamy peanut butter
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
Topping
- 24 Hershey’s Kisses
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350℉ (175℃) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish thoroughly to prevent sticking.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, creamy peanut butter, and the egg. Stir well until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually stir in the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and milk chocolate chips, mixing until a dough forms and ingredients are evenly combined.
- Press Dough and Bake: Press the dough evenly into the greased baking pan. Lightly sprinkle the top with some granulated sugar for a subtle crunch. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 22 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is set.
- Add Chocolate Topping: As soon as you remove the bars from the oven, immediately press the Hershey’s Kisses into the surface, placing one in the center of each bar to create the signature look.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan. Once cooled, cut into squares ensuring each piece has a Hershey’s Kiss in the center. Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
Notes
- Make sure the butter is softened, not melted, to achieve the best texture in the bars.
- Press the Hershey’s Kisses into the bars while they are still warm for optimal melting and adherence.
- You can substitute milk chocolate chips with semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips according to preference.
- These bars keep well in an airtight container and can also be slightly warmed before serving to enhance the chocolate flavor.
- For a nut-free variation, replace peanut butter with sunflower seed butter and omit the chocolate chips if necessary.
