Ingredients
Scale
Stuffing
- 8 tablespoons butter, softened
- 8 oz bulk breakfast or sage pork sausage
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 medium celery stalks, sliced
- 4 tablespoons finely chopped fresh sage leaves
- 2 1/4 teaspoons salt
- 3/4 teaspoon pepper
- 4 cups seasoned cornbread stuffing crumbs (from 14-oz bag)
- 1 1/2 cups Progresso™ chicken broth (from 32-oz carton)
Turkey and Vegetables
- 1 bone-in skin-on turkey breast half (2 to 3 lb), patted dry
- 2 medium sweet potatoes
- 12 oz fresh green beans, trimmed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
- 4 tablespoons chopped pecans
- 1/2 cup miniature marshmallows
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Heat oven to 425°F. Spray an 18×13-inch rimmed sheet pan with cooking spray. Place a 15×12-inch piece of heavy-duty foil on the pan and spray with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Cook Sausage and Vegetables: In a 4-quart saucepan, melt 3 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat. Add sausage, onion, and celery; cook 7 to 10 minutes, stirring frequently until vegetables are softened and sausage is no longer pink. Stir in 2 tablespoons sage, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper; cook and stir for 1 minute. Remove from heat.
- Combine Stuffing: Add cornbread stuffing crumbs and chicken broth to the sausage mixture. Stir well to combine all ingredients evenly.
- Prepare Stuffing on Pan: Mound the stuffing mixture in the center of the foil on the sheet pan.
- Season Turkey and Place on Stuffing: In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of butter, remaining 2 tablespoons of sage, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Rub this butter mixture all over the turkey breast. Place the turkey breast on top of the stuffing mound. Pull up all four sides of the foil around the stuffing to enclose it. Move the foil-covered stuffing and turkey to one side of the pan. Arrange sweet potatoes on the other half.
- Roast Turkey and Sweet Potatoes: Roast for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the breast (not touching bone) reads at least 165°F and sweet potatoes are tender when pierced. Remove from oven. Transfer turkey breast (leaving stuffing on pan) and sweet potatoes to a cutting board. Let the turkey rest for 15 minutes before carving.
- Prepare and Bake Green Beans and Finish Stuffing: In a medium bowl, toss green beans with olive oil, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and remaining 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Arrange green beans on the opposite side of the sheet pan away from the stuffing. Bake about 15 minutes or until stuffing is golden brown on top.
- Glaze and Top Sweet Potatoes: In a small bowl, mix remaining 3 tablespoons butter, brown sugar, and remaining 1/4 teaspoon salt. Cut sweet potatoes in half and divide the butter mixture among the halves. Gently mash the butter into the sweet potatoes with a fork. Sprinkle each half with a tablespoon of pecans and top with miniature marshmallows.
- Final Bake: Remove stuffing from the pan and cover with foil to keep warm. Place sweet potatoes on the sheet pan with partially cooked green beans. Bake for 4 to 5 minutes or until tops of marshmallows are golden brown.
- Serve: Carve the turkey and serve warm with the stuffing, sweet potatoes, and green beans for a complete, comforting sheet-pan meal.
Notes
- For best flavor, use fresh sage; if unavailable, substitute with 1 tablespoon dried sage.
- Allowing the turkey to rest after roasting keeps it juicy and tender.
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure the turkey is fully cooked to 165°F.
- Heavy-duty foil helps to hold the stuffing together and makes clean-up easier.
- You can prepare the stuffing mixture a day ahead and refrigerate until ready to use.
- Miniature marshmallows add a sweet finish to the sweet potatoes, but they can be omitted for a less sweet side.
