Description
Delicious and easy-to-make Spicy Honey Garlic Meatballs, baked to perfection and coated in a flavorful sweet and spicy garlic sauce. Perfect as an appetizer, main dish over rice, or in a sandwich.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Meatballs:
- 1 pound ground beef (or ground turkey)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (or 2 tablespoons dried)
- 1 large egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust for spice preference)
For the Spicy Honey Garlic Sauce:
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon sriracha (or more to taste)
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
- Prepare the Meatballs: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix until well blended. Shape the mixture into 1-inch diameter meatballs and arrange them evenly on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake the Meatballs: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the meatballs for 15-20 minutes until they are cooked through and nicely browned on the outside.
- Prepare the Sauce: While the meatballs bake, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, sriracha, rice vinegar, and sesame oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir to mix all ingredients well. If you prefer a thicker sauce, create a slurry by mixing cornstarch with a small amount of water and add it to the saucepan. Continue cooking the sauce for a few minutes until it thickens.
- Glaze the Meatballs: When the meatballs are finished baking, transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the spicy honey garlic sauce over the meatballs and toss gently to coat all pieces evenly with the sauce.
- Serve: Serve the glazed meatballs warm, optionally garnished with additional chopped parsley or sesame seeds. They can be enjoyed as an appetizer, served over rice for a satisfying meal, or used as a flavorful filling in a sub sandwich.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey for ground beef for a leaner option.
- Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes and sriracha to control the spice level.
- Using fresh parsley adds the best flavor, but dried parsley works as well.
- For thicker sauce, ensure to mix cornstarch with cold water before adding to prevent lumps.
- Leftover meatballs store well in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat nicely.
