Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Sauce

  • 2 chicken breasts (cut into bite size pieces)
  • 23 tbsp teriyaki sauce
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp garlic (minced)
  • 2 tsp ginger (minced)
  • Pinch of salt

Slaw

  • ¼ cup shredded purple cabbage
  • ¼ cup shredded green cabbage
  • ¼ cup shredded carrots
  • 1 green onion (sliced into thin rounds)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • ½ tsp ginger (minced)
  • ½ tsp garlic (minced)

Wonton Strips and Garnish

  • 810 wonton wrappers
  • Cooking spray
  • Sweet chili sauce (optional)
  • Sesame seeds
  • Chopped cilantro
  • Lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Cook the Chicken: Add the bite-sized chicken pieces to a pan along with 2 teaspoons of sesame oil, 2-3 tablespoons of teriyaki sauce, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, and a pinch of salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is fully cooked and coated in the flavorful sauce.
  2. Prepare the Wonton Strips: Cut the wonton wrappers into strips, then lay them out in a single layer in your air fryer basket. Lightly spray them with cooking oil to ensure crispiness.
  3. Air Fry the Wonton Strips: Air fry the wonton strips at 350°F (190°C) for 4 to 5 minutes. Watch carefully as they can quickly turn from golden to burnt. Remove once crisp and golden.
  4. Make the Slaw: In a mixing bowl, combine shredded purple cabbage, shredded green cabbage, shredded carrots, and sliced green onions. Toss with 1 tablespoon sesame oil, 1 tablespoon vinegar, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, honey, minced ginger, and minced garlic until well mixed.
  5. Assemble the Bowls: Divide the prepared slaw evenly into serving bowls. Spoon the cooked teriyaki chicken over the slaw, then scatter the crispy wonton strips on top. Drizzle with sweet chili sauce if using.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Finish each bowl with a sprinkle of sesame seeds, additional sliced green onions, chopped cilantro, and lime wedges on the side. Serve immediately while the wontons are crisp and the chicken flavorful.

Notes

  • Keep a close eye on the wonton strips while air frying to prevent burning.
  • For extra heat, add a pinch of red chili flakes to the chicken or drizzle more sweet chili sauce.
  • You can substitute chicken breasts with thighs if preferred for a juicier result.
  • The wonton strips can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container for a day but will lose some crunch.
  • Adjust honey in the slaw dressing to taste depending on sweetness preference.
