A quick and easy recipe for Korean Egg Rice (Gyeran Bap), perfect for a delicious and satisfying meal.
Ingredients

Rice:
- 1 1/2 cups cooked short grain rice (or cooked jasmine rice)
Egg:
- 1 egg
Seasonings:
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 tsp sesame oil (toasted)
- 1 tbsp regular soy sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp sesame seeds (toasted)
- 1 tbsp green onion (finely chopped)
- ½ tsp vegetable oil (or any neutral oil)
Optional Add-ins:
- kimchi, canned tuna, roasted seaweed flakes, avocado, sauteed carrots/spinach/zucchini, or more protein
Instructions
- Mix Rice: Combine hot cooked rice with butter until well mixed. Transfer to a large bowl.
- Prepare Egg: Fry the egg in vegetable oil to your desired doneness.
- Assemble Dish: Place the fried egg on top of the rice. Garnish with sesame seeds, sesame oil, green onions, and soy sauce.
- Combine: Break up the egg and mix everything together thoroughly. Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
- If using leftover rice, microwave covered for 2-3 minutes until hot. For freshly cooked rice, refer to cooking instructions.
