Ingredients
Scale
Applesauce Ingredients
- 8 apples (peeled, cored, and chopped)
- ⅓ cup water
- ¼ cup maple syrup (optional)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 Tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
- Prepare the Apples: Wash the apples thoroughly. Using a paring knife, vegetable peeler, or apple peel corer slicer tool, peel the apples, core them, and then chop into small pieces to ensure they soften faster during cooking.
- Combine Ingredients: Place the chopped apples into a large pot. Add ⅓ cup of water, ¼ cup of maple syrup if using, and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Mix gently to combine.
- Cook the Applesauce: Heat the pot over medium heat until the mixture reaches a low simmer. Cover with a lid and allow the apples to cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally until the apples become very soft.
- Add Lemon Juice: Remove the pot from heat and stir in 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. This adds freshness and balances the sweetness.
- Blend to Smooth: Use an immersion blender directly in the pot to puree the apples into a smooth applesauce. Alternatively, transfer the mixture to a food processor to blend until smooth.
- Serve or Store: The applesauce can be enjoyed warm immediately or cooled in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to serve cold.
Notes

- Adjust cinnamon to taste or add other spices like nutmeg or cloves for variation.
