Description

This Ground Turkey Teriyaki Stir Fry is a quick and flavorful weeknight meal featuring lean ground turkey and fresh vegetables tossed in a homemade teriyaki sauce. Ready in just 30 minutes, this dish combines tender turkey, crisp broccoli, and shredded carrots with a savory-sweet sauce that’s perfect served over rice.

Ingredients

Scale

Teriyaki Sauce

  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • ¾ cup water, divided
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated or minced
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch
  • ¼ cup water (for slurry)
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest

Stir Fry

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 3 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 small onion, small diced
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine ¾ cup water, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, honey, and brown sugar. Stir to mix all ingredients evenly.
  2. Thicken the Sauce: Bring the mixture to a low boil. In a separate small bowl, whisk together ¼ cup water and corn starch until dissolved to create a slurry. Gradually pour the slurry into the simmering sauce while stirring continuously. Allow the sauce to thicken, then remove from heat and stir in the orange zest. Set aside.
  3. Cook the Aromatics and Turkey: Heat sesame oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the diced onion and sauté for several minutes until softened. Add ground turkey and cook thoroughly, stirring occasionally, until turkey reaches an internal temperature of 165°F and is no longer pink, about 7-10 minutes.
  4. Add Vegetables: Stir in broccoli florets and shredded carrots. Cook until the vegetables are heated through and tender, about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Combine with Sauce: Reduce heat to low and pour the prepared teriyaki sauce over the turkey and vegetables. Stir well to combine and simmer for several minutes until heated through and sauce coats all ingredients.
  6. Serve: Remove from heat and serve the stir fry over cooked rice or your preferred side.

Notes

  • Use fresh ginger for best flavor, but ground ginger can be substituted if needed.
  • You can swap the ground turkey with ground chicken or lean pork if desired.
  • Adjust sweetness by varying the amount of brown sugar or honey in the sauce.
  • Broccoli florets can be fresh or frozen—if using frozen, no need to thaw before cooking.
  • For extra heat, add red pepper flakes when cooking the turkey.
  • Serve with steamed jasmine or brown rice for a complete meal.
